I just finished The Fountainhead and I must say that, I really enjoyed the end. Aside from the very lenghthy Howard Roark closing argument, at the trial for him dynamiting a building, the last portion of the book kept me really interested.
You know Ayn always gets me with that whole idea of not losing your "self" or in other words not losing your hopes and your dreams and the things that make you unique and proud to be who you are. She took the word selfish and presented it in a very interesting format, I think that's what I really appreciated about the ending. After really analyzing Atlas Shrugged and then to compare it to Fountainhead I think Atlas Shrugged's story was a bit more compelling and attention grabbbing but Fountainhead was more fitting to my political likes. I mean the ideals presented in Atlas Shrugged can only be carried out in a society that is completely homogenous and devoid of prejudice or bias. And Fountainhead though very similar, sort of presented the whole individualism idea as a combatant to those in society that favor leaders or even regular people that like to keep the masses dumb by telling them that the only way they can be prosperous in life is by compromising things they love and desire for the sake of others. (if that makes sense)
